I am back after a long time of not posting. I was busy with work/school.. but now I'm settled in and can start posting regularly again. =)

My fish are fine and none of them have died. I'm gonna try to get back into this hobby again, cause it's fun and good for the fish.

Thank you for keeping me on your friends list to all of those who did!

just tried to see how Zelda & Edwin got along (Edwin is Phil's fish.) Edwin is very small, couldn't wrap around Zelda, but Phil insisted I try them out. Anyway, after about five minutes Zelda started chasing Edwin around, eating little bits off his tail. As unnatural as that is, I'm not surprised. She's a tough cookie... and Edwin is pretty much like his name. Small, pink & purple, and sickly.

he will be mine.. oh yes.. [14 Jun 2004|11:08pm]
ugh, now i can't quote waynes world without feeling like jeanne needham.

Anyhow, today I saw a HALF MOON at fish world. I picked it up and was all excited -- until I read that it was THIRTEEN DOLLARS. What the hell. I am totally saving up.

And Pet Mania isn't gettnig their next betta shipment in until thursday night.

They have the same three betta I've been looking at for a week.

I guess I'll just wait on petsmart, as a source of income/their next shipment. They were pretty low in stock too. *sigh*

Me and Phil got some new fish yesterday. All of them have swim bladder problems! My new one's name is Ninja:

He is extremly good natured and lovely, reminds me of Silvadore & Wonka (my two favorites!) combined

I'm giving this little friend to my boyfriend Phil. He is really pretty, and REALLY good natured, but i just dont think I have the proper equipment/time that he DESERVES! And Phil only has one other fish, so i think this'll be good.

Anyway, Rupee was all depressed for a while and i couldnt figure out why. At first it hought it was because he was sharing a tank with two other fish so i took him out and put him in a bowl, but he was still depressed so i put in thislittle glass octopus cause i thought it may be because of lack of stimulation. But alas! It was because his bowl was too small. Look at him now! RupeeCollapse )

My fry are doing wonderfully! I actually siphoned today, and they are swimming around. I think they're actually growin their labrynth latley. I'm hatchin' some baby brine shrimp, so i'm reeeally counting on these guys LIVING.

Wonka now has his own critter-carrier, free to swim around and dash about and play and frolic as much as he wants to. he deserves it. He's one of my favorites. <3

good news! Silvadore was coming down with the nasty fungus also, but REFUSE to let him die!!! I'm giving him the classic salt-bath treatment, I started last night. He doesnt have as much of the gunk all over his body, and is actually being active:

There he is, feeling himself, staring directly into the camera. what a weird ass fish. <3

Anyways, I got a new fish yesterday, Slammy. he is absolutley gorgeous! His dorsal fin does this little elvis-curly thing. Very cute.

+ took Zoom out of the fry's tank yesterday

+ Washed Sinatra's & Gretchens still-fungusy tanks out with bleach, now they seem pretty clean.

+ I think Rupee's constipated (huge-ass stomach, not eating that much, just sitting on the bottom, otherwise seems pretty healthy)

+ Zepplin has a little band of scales right in front of his dorsal fin that seem to be spiking up or shedding, I'm assuming it's not dropsy because his eyes are fine and his stomach isn't bloated. It's probably.. well, I have no idea. hopefully it's just a little wound that'll clear up. I have him in one of the super-clean tanks, he seems to be doing better already.

The fry all seem good! I'm gonna do a partial-water change today and maybe make the filter go a little faster.

I really want a catfish!

My poor Sinatra died last night from the nasty Saprolegnia fungus! =/ It was so odd, it wasnt there the day before, then by last night there were gigantic welts all over his body with the nasty woolly crap trailing them. Poor thing! I was going to put him in the fridge, but I figured I'd give him one more night and get some 'strong malachite green solution' but alas! He did not last that long, the poor thing. RIP, Sinatra! The only peachy-yellow beta I've ever seen.

In better news!! Gretchen like, jumped out of her bowl, off my dresser and dooown to the floor the night before last. When i woke up that morning I was feeding my fish, and she flopped onto my foot, which scared the HELL out of me because I thought she was a gigantic pink leech. But no! It was my precious Gretchen! I put her back into her bowl, she had a crook back and could baarely swim, her little arm-fins appeared to be completely not there, (but they showed up several hours later). She seems to be recovering, slowly but surely.. she doesn't use one of her arm-fins, it's all inflamed and hurt looking. but she can use the other one, and she's eating and seems happy enough. Phew. She's a tough cookie -- I hope she'll pull through. <3

The fry hatched last night. They already seem happier & stronger than Wonka & Gretchens batch.. thanks to the filter! That was definatley a good investment. The water looks so much better.

Anyways, some pictures of Zoom & Gretchens flirtations. ooh lala!Collapse )

Zoom and Gretchen had eggs! This time everything's different. Well, it will be, anyway. Zoom seems so young though, I hope hje proves to be ALMOST as good as wonka.

When all of the fry died, Phil and I looked among them to see if there were any survivers.. we caught two with an eye-dropper, but when we put them in a small jar they floated to the bottem, so i assumed they were dead. Today, there were two swimming around again! yay! I wasn't a complete failure.. just 6998/7000ths of one.

Anyway, I have Wonka & Gretchen back in the Love Tank. Hopefully it will work out better this time, after I add a filter and perhaps a heater. wish me luck!

all of the spawn died. Most, anyway.

Oh. !. They were fine the day before and that morning.. but when I came home, THOUSANDS were all laying dead on the bottom. I'm guessing it's something to do with the water temperature or something, or perhaps the mold that i didnt notice until that afternoon took over them! I was extremely discouraged, but I'm ok now. I'll try again, after I got all the necesary equipment that I was totally lacking. It was my first spawn, at least I got that far, (i figure). I feel bad for all those little lives lost!

Anyhow, Today I noticed Phils BEAUTFUL fish, Goth, was pretty much dead, with a ton of ich. It was really suck. He was such a gorgeous fish. it's weird, because my fish from that place is perfectly healthy, and I know Phil has been taking the same kind of care as me. His other fish died AND the shrimp as well. so odd! I wonder if spores float in the air and contaminate the water and can take over fish in a couple of days or something.
